Broadway Bound Kids
IN THE CLASSROOM
Make learning fun, easy and entertaining with Broadway Bound Kids in-school residencies. Choose from one of our interactive programs or let us help you customize a class of your own. Professional teaching artists collaborate with your classroom teachers to integrate arts into your curriculum. Broadway Bound Kids uses improvisation, songwriting, playwriting, singing, acting and movement to enhance student learning, expand analytical skills and concentration, and improve coordination and impulse control. Our residencies help students thoroughly grasp new concepts while building confidence, creativity and community.
Stories on Stage
In this exciting residency we will bring a favorite story to life on stage. Broadway Bound Kids will help cultivate a love of books and reading by encouraging your students to jump into the pages of their favorite stories. We will guide them as they write their own script and monologues and become their favorite storybook characters. We will perform our original masterpieces at the end of the residency.
History on Stage
History comes to life in this interactive residency where students will step into the shoes of their favorite historical figures. We will guide them in creating their own monologues where they will portray a famous historical figure. This residency helps improve reading, writing and public speaking skills. At the end of the residency the students will perform their original work.
Singing Stories
Write, Sing, Create and Play in this fun and interactive class. Through games, exercises, and listening to all types of music, we'll explore the 5 components of basic songwriting: rhythm, song structure, lyrics, melody and rhyme. Working together the students will create and sing their own songs. The residency will culminate in a performance and we'll also make a recording so that the students have their own CD!
(NOTE: this residency can focus on in-school subjects or other issues that kids face such as bullying, peer-pressure and conflict resolution.)
Imagination in Motion
Through movement we find health! Inspired by the fusion-fitness technique, Nia, this class combines martial arts, jazz, modern, Duncan and yoga into one SUPER FUN residency!! We will teach you and your students all about these different forms of movement and how to express the dynamic qualities of each one. In the process, you’ll help students learn the six essential components of daily fitness: agility, stability, strength, mobility, flexibility, and coordination. To support the movement work, classes weave in learning about bones and muscles through an interactive and exciting process. Broadway Bound Kids will also provide teachers and students with exercises and activities that can be easily done in the classroom to release tension and excess energy while improving focus, participation and concentration. At the end of the semester we will show our families and friends all the new ways we’ve discovered to move.
Create Your Own Residency
There are endless possibilities when it comes to incorporating the performing arts into your classroom. Residencies can focus on any school subject that the students are learning or any issues that they are facing. Our in-school residencies are also great for building community, increasing confidence and encouraging all students to express themselves in their own unique way. We are excited to help you integrate the arts and enhance the learning experience in your school in any way we can.
